About Us

We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales.

Our strategic priorities over the next five years are:

- To develop a coherent and inclusive range of qualifications for learners aged 14-16
- To build an effective and sustainable qualifications offer
- To modernise assessment approaches
- To support the qualifications system through grants and expertise

We are now looking for a Director of Communications and Engagement to join us on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Role

As our Director of Communications and Engagement, you will provide strategic leadership across our communications, public relations and stakeholder engagement activities, helping to promote public confidence in qualifications and the qualifications system in Wales.

Specifically, you will deliver our communications and stakeholder strategy, strengthen our public profile, and ensure we engage effectively with our audiences. You will shape a compelling narrative around our work, making effective use of digital channels, social media, campaigns and stakeholder relationships.

Joining our Management Board and senior leadership group, you will provide expert advice on communications and engagement, ensuring these considerations inform policy development and regulatory activity.

About You

To be considered as a Director of Communications and Engagement, you will need:

- Fluency in Welsh and English
- Proven experience of delivering communications strategies or stakeholder engagement approaches across multiple audiences
- Proven experience of issue management and protecting organisational reputation
- Experience of leading teams to maximise performance and continuous improvement
- Experience of quickly developing strong internal and external working relationships
- A good understanding of the education sector in Wales
- Professional qualifications or suitable training in leadership and management
