Location: 

Plaid Cymru HQ, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff 

Plaid Cymru staff operate a hybrid pattern of remote working and office working. 

Type of Contract 

Permanent 

The contract is offered on a permanent basis, and is subject to the successful completion of a three month probation period. 

Flexible – Plaid Cymru would welcome applicants who wished to take on this role on a full-time or part-time basis. 

Salary 

Band 3 (£26,345– £33,873)  

Appointments are usually made at the lower end of the scale 

Working Hours 

37 hours per week, with the need for occasional evening and weekend work.  Plaid Cymru operates a flexible working hours system.  The post offers 28 days holiday per year pro rata with additional privilege days. 

 

 

Purpose of the role: 

 

Plaid Cymru’s National Campaigns Unit is looking for a committed and talented individual to join its successful team, supporting the party’s elections and campaigns as it looks forward to the Local Government elections in May 2027 and beyond. 

The postholder will have an interest in political campaigning, and a knowledge of how to use data programmes such as Excel, and be willing to learn and develop the party’s campaign support systems. They will assist in the delivery of training and support for volunteers in using the party’s election software, and support constituencies and candidates to deliver effective campaigns. 

 

Main responsibilities: 

 

  1. To maintain, develop and promote the party’s national database of electors  

  1. To support local users of the national database, ensuring adherence to data protection policies 

  1. Preparing and delivering a training plan to ensure the development of skills of party members in using e-canvasser 

  1. Helping to interrogate the available data within the system for use across the party; in terms of campaigns, membership and other purposes. 

  1. Participate in the wider work programme of the National Campaigns Unit, to support the delivery of effective election campaigns across the party 

  1. Preparing outputs from the elector database for use in campaigning and elections  

  1. Preparing reports using the elector database software  

 

 

Key Skills & Experience 

Essential:  

  • A commitment to Plaid Cymru’s values 

  • A solid working knowledge of database systems and Excel, and an ability to learn and adapt to new systems 

  • An understanding of elections and campaigning   

  • An ability to communicate and support people in using software 

  • Awareness of the importance of managing data appropriately and confidentially 

  • The ability to work to deadlines, be organised and manage time and resources effectively 

  • The ability to work well as part of a team, and develop good working relationships across areas of responsibility  

 

Desirable: 

 

  • The ability to communicate in both Welsh and English 

  • Experience of working with volunteers 

  • Experience of working within political and/or member-led organisations
